Rocker Tommy Lee was none too pleased after choosing to leave his meal at Chef Emeril Lagasse's New Orleans restaurant last week over a tiff about the dress code. And he let Lagasse know about it.

Lee tweeted to Lagasse last week, saying that he left Emeril's Delmonico after staff members apparently asked him to remove his hat. Lee said in his tweet that he obliged but was still given "a hard time" at his table.

When a tweeter chided Lee for not removing his hat, he snapped back by asking "Is it 1926?????"

Lee and wife Brittany Furlan also gave more info to TMZ, saying another reason he had an issue with restaurant staff is because he swore, though the couple told TMZ that he only swore under his breath when taking off his hat.

"This guy comes up to our table—we have no problem, the hat’s off everything’s cool—and is like, ‘Excuse me, I heard you use profanity,'" Furlan told TMZ.

Delmonico reps confirmed to People magazine in a statement that Lee chose to leave after a hostess asked him to remove his hat and to watch his language.

"Tommy Lee was kindly asked by our hostess to remove his hat after being brought to his table at Emeril’s Delmonico," the restaurant statement read, according to People. "Tommy became aggravated, voicing his dissatisfaction with our policy and chose to leave after being asked by management to curb his profanity out of respect of our staff and guests."

The incident gained some traction due to the fact that is quite possibly the most random celebrity feud in the history of ever. Lagasse finally responded on Twitter last Thursday and decided to make light of the whole situation, comparing the hype around their tiff to the hype around the Popeyes chicken sandwich.

"Hey @MrTommyLand@DelmonicoNOLA dress code is getting as much attention as @popeyeschicken spicy chicken sandwich. #chickensandwichwars #dresscodewars," he replied. And Lagasse should know, the next day he tried out the Popeyes sandwich for himself.

I guess the only question left unanswered is...what did Emeril think of the sandwich?
