The only flavor possibly more beloved than chocolate is pumpkin. And wouldn't you know it? Hostess is releasing a limited-edition pumpkin version of its iconic chocolate cupcake dessert this fall and people are seriously PUMPED.
If this sounds vaguely familiar to you, it's because Hostess has released Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes in the past for the fall (...along with candy corn and sea salt caramel. YUM!), but this appears to be slightly different. Pumpkin spice cupcakes had sprinkles and these have none. Plus, pumpkin spice and regular pumpkin are just very different, thank you very much!
From the looks of the packaging, these will be pumpkin cakes with vanilla frosting and the same iconic cupcake filling (basically exactly what you'd expect!). If you're already eager to get your hands on them, you're in luck: Several eagle-eyed shoppers have found these out and about already in stores like Jewel-Osco and Meijer because calendar be damned, it's fall if we say so and cupcake fans wait for no season.
Hostess confirmed the cupcakes' coming arrival with a very festive Instagram video on Tuesday. They also announced a few other fall favorites including Pumpkin Spice Twinkies and Caramel Crunch Donettes.
The brand captioned its insta "We couldn’t wait for Fall to get here, so we’re bringing Fall to you 😉," which I am taking to mean that you will be able to find all of these treats in a store near you verrrry soon. Autumn is coming whether you're ready or not!
