A few weeks ago, Popeyes debuted its first-ever (!!!) chicken sandwich. And while we were initially baffled as to what took them so long, one bite in and we knew. You can't rush perfection. But soon after, war broke out with Chick-fil-A over whose was better.
There had already been some comparisons made between the brands—and, um, some comments that Popeyes had the superior sando—but the controversy really took a turn when Chick-fil-A seemingly subtweeted them on Monday. "Bun + Chicken + Pickles = all the ❤️ for the original." Shots! Fired!
But Popeyes wasn't gonna take the jab sitting down. They quote tweeted Chick-fil-A's post and added, "...y'all good?"
The exchange sent fans into a frenzy, and the official Chicken Sandwich War of 2019 commenced. The arguments came pouring in. "Popeyes all day, no competition," one Twitter user wrote. "I can confirm it’s delicious and can definitely replace any Chick-fil-A craving I may have," another added. I'm not gonna lie to you, the Chick-fil-A stans were few and far between.

Things escalated even further when other fast food joints decided to jump in. Wendy's went all in with their response, writing, "Y'all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second best chicken sandwich," which Popeyes did not take lightly. "Sounds like someone just ate one of our biscuits. Cause y’all looking thirsty," they quipped back. Wendy's called their jokes and food "dry" in response.
Bojangles, Shake Shack, and Church's jumped in, too—but I'm sorry, sit down. Y'all aren't even in the running.
