While we've been freaking out over the return of Wendy's Spicy Chicken Nuggets, the Brits have been anxiously anticipating the arrival of McDonald's take on the iconic Spicy Chicken McNuggets. According to ChronicleLive, soon after Mickey D's—or as the Brit's say, Maccy D's—announced its Manchester customers would be given exclusive access to the new menu item before the rest of the British public, people went mad.
Unfortunately, it looks like all of that hype was for nothing. You see, soon after McDonald's U.K. released their Spicy Chicken McNuggets nationwide on Wednesday, the Brits were surprised to find that those nugs weren't spicy at all. Like, not even a little bit. So naturally, they went off.
On Twitter, @Micraman235 replied to McDonald's Spicy Chicken McNugget announcement post and called the new menu item "rubbish." He then declared he wanted a refund, and added that there was really no point to printing out those cool new red boxes because they taste just like McDonald's classic McNuggets.
He wasn't the only one. User @AlfieCAFC replied with a video disappointingly declaring that they were "f**kin' overrated mate," and that he had "thought better of" McDonald's. As you can see, people were really in their feelings over this one.
It gets worse.
In the end, it looks like the only remnants of spice and flavor were found in the Tabasco-based tomato dip that accompanied the deceivingly bright orange nuggets. And from one nugget eater to another, I think we can all agree that the sauce is never enough. Fortunately for the Brits, Spicy McNuggets will only have a seven-week run. Maybe after that, Maccy D's can go back to the drawing board.
