Popeyes’ Cajun spice blend might make you heat up, but news of their first ever chicken sandwich has us breaking a serious sweat. Did ya read that? FIRST EVER!

This may come as a shock, but up until now, the ruler of the fried chicken realm didn’t serve up friend chicken sammies. Jaw dropping, I know. Thankfully, Popeyes recognized this craziness and is officially adding a Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwich to menus nationwide as of August 12. Let the countdown begin…

If you haven't already lost all cool, allow us to provide the press description of the long-awaited sandwich. It “includes a delicious buttermilk-battered and hand-breaded white meat chicken filet, served on a buttery, toasted brioche bun with two barrel-cured pickles and guests’ choice of classic mayo or spicy Cajun spread.” Need. Now.

Here’s where things get juicy. If you’re a Long Beach, CA, native, you can get your hands on some sandwiches before they hit the nationwide market. How? Well, just head on over to Sweet Dixie Kitchen August 8th or 9th and order one right off the menu. This may sound like an unlikely pairing after Sweet Dixie Kitchen’s owner, Kim Sánchez, was caught red handed attempting to pass of Popeyes’ chicken as their own back in 2017. Does the #POPEYESGATE social media frenzy ring any bells?

Any unconfirmed conflict must have been resolved, because the partnership seems to be thriving. Bruno Cardinali, Head of Marketing for the Popeyes brand, said, “We feel honored that the team at Sweet Dixie Kitchen likes our chicken so much. To acknowledge their admiration, we are granting them special access to pre-launch our new Chicken Sandwich for a few days before we launch it nationally.”
