In case you hadn't noticed, Burger King is out to dominate America's vegetarian fast food market one Impossible Burger at a time. Just across the pond, it looks like the movement toward greasy, meatless treats continues because Burger King UK has debuted a new deep-fried Halloumi Burger.

If you've never had the pleasure of tasting halloumi, this conversation probably feels irrelevant, but let's just start by saying this is not your typical cheese. Firstly, it has a pretty high melting point, which makes it ideal for grilling and deep frying. Secondly, it's usually made from a mixture of sheep and goat's milk, which gives it a notoriously rubbery texture (think paneer, but firmer). All in all, it's a misfit cheese that everyone low-key loves.

For now, Burger King UK is just experimenting with a limited-edition single and double halloumi patty option, which is "served in a buttery brioche bun with freshly cut crisp lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and creamy mayo," so basically a burger...sans the burger.

That said, if all goes well, they'll likely be taking a note from the Swedes, who have a BK menu that features four different halloumi treats. Given that people seem to be losing their bloody minds over this burger, I wouldn't be surprised.

The Independent posted an adorable taste test video that provided some honest insight on the burger. Most found the halloumi patties to be surprisingly moist and not too rubbery.

We're officially convinced these suckers need to keep moving all the way west until we can get our hands on them. Let's make it happen, Burger King!
