Krispy Kreme is celebrating its 82nd birthday with a gift for us. How generous, right? For one week only, the chain is selling a festive cake batter-filled donut. And, yep, it's what breakfast dreams are made of.
The special-edition offering, officially titled the Original Filled Birthday Batter Doughnut, is available beginning Monday, July 15. Trust when I say you're gonna need a Krispy Kreme run every single day next week. The epic flavor is stuffed with birthday cake batter (they didn't skimp on quantity, either), dipped in strawberry icing, and doused in party sprinkles.
Let's all just take a moment and soak this in. LOOK AT IT. Utter perfection.
"Krispy Kreme fans love to celebrate our birthday. They really make it their own party, which is good with us," chief marketing officer Dave Skena said in a statement: "We're continuing our birthday tradition of the $1 dozen deal, which is great. But this year, for the first time ever, we are filling an Original Glazed doughnut with birthday cake batter...and that's even better."
You know Dave, I couldn't agree more. It is better. But that dollar dozen deal? Can't say I've got any complaints about it either. Every year Krispy Kreme sells, you guessed it, a dozen donuts for a single dollar. That's less than nine cents PER DONUT. It might as well be our birthday.
