Juuuuuust when you thought the unicorn trend had died, Burger King created an ice cream-based homage to the mythical creature. It’s referred to as “the most unique shake,” and it certainly has some distinguishing ingredients and, uh, characteristics. But unfortunately, it might be just as hard to track down as a legit unicorn. Currently, the Unicorn Shake can only be purchased in Spain and Portugal.
But before you begin booking flights in search of this majestic item, you’ll want to know what makes this particular fast food “unicorn.” Let’s be real, every unicorn needs a horn (or, you know, it would be your run-of-the-mill pony). So, Burger King has employed an upside-down sugar cone submerged into the whipped cream as de-facto topper. The shake itself is layered with vanilla and blueberry and topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.
BK’s Unicorn Shake is just about the only unicorn-related food not obtainable in the U.S (remember Starb's Unicorn Frappucinos and Kroger's Unicorn Swirl ice cream? Even when the creations fail, the trend persists. Burger King is clearly having fun with the creature’s image, writing on its website, per elementary-level translation skills, “No unicorn has been hurt in the process.”
In the past, Burger King has experimented with both Fruit Loops and Lucky Charms-infused shakes, so an international transfer of the Unicorn version may be just around the corner. Until that day, there are plenty of other rainbow-laden paths to unicorn treats you can follow.
