It was approximately 10:30 this morning when a tray of Kentucky Fried Chicken sandwiches was carried like royalty into the Delish office. Before anyone could even decide whether or not they were hungry, we were all face first in the fast food restaurant's Cheetos Sandwich. Let me tell you, in that moment...nothing else mattered. Literally.
Biting through the toasted bun, you immediately experience KFC's juicy, hand-breaded extra crispy chicken filet and a layer of crunchy Cheetos. The real tastebud teaser, though, is the special Cheetos sauce drizzled over the chicken—OH MY ACTUAL HEAVENS IS IT GOOD—with just the right amount of mayo to balance out the cheesy kick.
When I say everyone on the team was freaking out after the first bite, I'm not exaggerating. So much so that "It's a mind-blowing experience" and "It's like watching Inception for the first time," were actual quotes that came out of a team member's mouth. It's that delicious.
The good news? Well, you don't have to wait very long until you can actually get your hands (and mouths) on your own KFC Cheetos Sandwich, because they're coming to locations nationwide beginning July 1. Unfortunately, though, you'll only get to experience this special twist on the KFC Crispy Colonel Sandwich for four short weeks—so you should definitely plan your meals accordingly, OK?
Should you find yourself unable to wait until July 1 to give the sandwich a taste test, I get it. Thankfully, if you're in New York City on June 27, you'll get an early preview at the "All Orange Everything" pop-up event, where the menu will also include Cheetos-fied KFC Hot Wings, Cheetos Loaded Fries, and a KFC Mac and Cheetos Bowl.
