Unlike Starbucks' secret menu, which everyone and her mother knows about, Chipotle's is an actual secret. So much so that I, a person who writes about food day in and day out, somehow missed it. But it exists (!) and there's a Quesarito on it (!!).
In the name of journalism, I conducted a deep-dive into Chipotle's elusive offerings. My investigation revealed five orders that all trump my boring old regular order of a burrito bowl.
So. Weirdly, the quesadilla is not a regular menu item, but it is a thing you can order and it's great. There's also a double-decker taco, which is a taco inside another taco. The Burritodilla is a quesadilla filled with burrito filling and is a DREAM. Then you've got the nachos! All wonderful, solid options.
But...
There's that Quesarito I mentioned, and it's my fav for obvious reasons. As I'm sure you've guessed, it's a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla. Self-explanatory, right? And while it's still not listed on store menus, PopSugar reports it's had an official price ($3.50 + normal burrito pricing) since 2015.
So how should you go about ordering this magical and mysterious quesadilla-burrito hybrid off-menu? A Chipotle employee left some detailed instructions on a 2015 Reddit thread.
"I never mind making a Quesarito as long as there isn't a line," the staffer wrote. "Being polite [also] always helps." Aside from these common courtesies, there's more: Don't ask to overstuff it, eat it at the store because the cheese will "solidify," offer to wait while it heats up, and if you want to layers ask for a "double-wrapped quesarito."
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got an entire secret menu worth of food to sample. TTYL.
