While I may not be super invested in the NBA finals, I am pretty keen on free McDonald's fries. Honestly, right now the two are kinda synonymous. Last year, the chain signed a sponsorship deal with the Toronto Raptors, and part of the agreement was that they'd serve up medium fries every time the team scores twelve 3-pointers in a game. And apparently, that's been happening.

According to Eater, the team traded the "infamously reticent 3-point shooter" DeMar DeRozan for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green and that did it. They're even topping the minimum shots. The Raptors achieved their 3-pointer requirement 44 times in the regular season and 10 in the playoffs.

Let's break that down in terms of free fries, shall we? Basically, the Raptors have cost Micky D's over two million medium-sized french fries. Since the average cost for an order in Canada (this is an Ontario exclusive, btw) is $2.89 CAD ($2.18 USD), that means Canadians have scored nearly $6 million CAD (or about $4.37 million in the U.S.) WORTH OF FRIES. I'm really questioning my decision to live in America right now.

There is also an upside for McDonald's. In order to claim the fries, customers have to download the app!

Apparently, the company was just slightly off when predicting how many fries they'd have to shell out. In fact, per the Financial Post, it's about three times the original projection. So, like, woah. There has been some concern over how franchisees will handle the insane demand—you heard that when I said two million fries, right???—but there's reportedly extra fry cooks on hand.

Despite their heartbreaking 1 point loss last night, the Raptors have another shot at winning us free fries the title in Game 6 in Oakland. Good luck, guys!
