Chipotle already takes a significant portion of my income because, you know, burrito bowls. But now, they've gone and dropped an entire line of rainbow merch for Pride month. So just take my entire paycheck, why don't ya?
Earlier this week, the brand announced its "Love What Makes You Real" campaign to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. The limited-edition collection of pride gear, which includes hats, tees, tanks, and more, will benefit The Trevor Project, the "world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning young people."
According to the press release, Chipotle will also host a number of fundraising efforts for local LGBTQ+ nonprofits and participate in the parades nationwide.
"As a Pride supporter for nearly two decades, Chipotle celebrates equality with its customers as well as its employees," the company said in a statement. "Chipotle takes pride in fostering a culture of inclusivity. Further support for the company’s commitment to inclusivity can be found in its benefits programs, which include support for adoptive parents, same-sex couples, and paternity leave."
The line includes four items: the "Homo Estas" pride tank ($20), "Homo Estas" pride tee ($20), rainbow pride hat ($17), and "Love What Makes You Real" tee ($20). Chipotle will reportedly donate $10.50 of the proceeds from tees and tanks and $7 from the hat to The Trevor Project.
Chipotle will also be surprising an unnamed YouTuber and LGBTQ+ activist with the first-ever rainbow celebrity card. Though I'm not 100 percent sure what that means exactly, I'm pretty sure the recipient will get *a lot* of burritos.
"Our food is real and so are we," chief people officer, Marissa Andrada, added. "We are cultivating a better world by encouraging people to be their full selves and celebrating everyone—basic, extra and everything in between."
