As part of Sonic's continued effort to sabotage my summer bod (it's ok, I forgive you, ily, etc.), the drive-in chain has introduced two new Milkshakes: Yellow Cake Batter Classic Shake and Oreo Yellow Cake Batter Shake. Both flavors are blended with vanilla ice cream and cake batter. They're also nearly identical except the latter also has Oreos, making it the superior shake.
Sonic announced the limited-edition earlier this week along with a celebratory promotion. Every night after 8 p.m., they're offering half-price shakes and $1.49 ice cream sandwiches. There are two reasons I'm so excited about this, but let's start with the first and most obvious: We can try both cake batter flavors for the price of one regular shake. It seems only fair we give them equal opportunity.
Alright, so, next reason...$1.49 ice cream sandwiches means we can score another cookies and cream favorite for less. On April 1, Sonic introduced giant Oreo ice cream sandwiches. It's like a traditional Oreo except supersized and filled with creamy vanilla custard. It's scientifically impossible not to love it. They also introduced Toll House Cookie Ice Cream sandwiches as part of the limited edition release.
According to Sonic, the deal excludes a few things—namely, milkshake add ons. The extra toppings will cost you. Combos, Wacky Pack Kids Meals, Order Ahead, and delivery are not included either, fyi.
Both Cake Batter Shakes are available at participating locations on a short term basis, though we're unsure how long their limited release will be. Basically, you're gonna wanna try 'em ASAP just in case.
