Clear your schedule and locate the nearest Krispy Kreme ASAP, because a Chocolate Glaze Day is happening TOMORROW. From store open to store close (and while supplies last), America's fav donut destination is serving up its limited-edition chocolate glaze flavor at 250 participating locations nationwide.
Krispy Kreme introduced the twist on classic glaze two years ago to coincide with the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse, and it's reappeared on several (short-term) occasions since. In January, they debuted an entire collection of chocolate glaze goodies: Chocolate Glazed Cake Batter Donut, Chocolate Glazed Raspberry Filled Donut, Double Chocolate Glazed Kreme Filled Donut, and the Chocolate Glazed Oreo Cookies and Kreme Donut. Which, if I do say so myself, were ah-mazing.
The OG chocolate glaze is pretty much just what it sounds like, a "classic Original Glazed Doughnut covered in rich chocolate glaze." Throughout 2019, Krispy Kreme has hosted Chocolate Glaze Days once a month, except in May. The May 31 event marks our second one this month. And while I'm not here to complain or anything (the opposite, actually), I am curious as to whether they'd ever consider making this fan-favorite a permanent menu staple. Should I get a petition going or ???
If you're planning to stop by, be aware, in months past they've sold out quickly.
"Good luck getting them," one user commented on Instagram. "This is the 3rd month in a row I’ve tried, and when I get to work I’m always disappointed to find that they just gave me a cold, normal chocolate iced donut. Such a bummer." A bummer indeed, but I can't say I'd be disappointed over the chocolate iced donut either. Despite @ashlynnisabella's complaint, it seems like a worthy consolation prize.
