Dole Whip is always a crowd pleaser, but especially when alcohol's involved. Disney has brought us several booze-infused iterations of the fan favorite: margaritas, froscato, and now they're adding rum.
The King's Cooler is part of the park's new, limited-edition Lion King menu. It blends classic pineapple Dole Whip and rum, and it's topped with a coconut watermelon red syrup. This pineapple, coconut, rum combo is giving us major Pina Colada vibes.
While, personally, I'm all for a Dole Whip-induced buzz of the sugar and alcohol variety, not everyone is. There's also the whole 21-and-up requirement. As such, Disney has an alternative and there are only two ways to differentiate it: the name (it's called Simba's Sunset) and the rum (there is none!)
Available at Animal Kingdom's dessert-only destination, Tamu Tamu, the cocktail hit menus on May 24. It's also not the *only* new item joining menus. "There is a whole pride of eats and treats coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park this summer with offerings that celebrate some of your favorite characters and moments from Disney's beloved tale, 'The Lion King," Disney Parks Blog wrote.
So what else are we dying to try? Well, there's a Simba Ice Cream Sandwich modeled after the character, Serengeti Sangria, a Bugs 'n Grub Waffle Cone, and some impressive latte art happening. The movie-inspired sweets will remain on menus through summer.
I'm not complaining about the Dole Whip margs or anything (They're great! I love 'em!), but the rum-infused version? Even better.
