Update, 5/6/19, 4:58 p.m.: HBO has issued a cute lil statement re: all the Starbucks-related nonsense that ensued today. Firstly, it wasn't Starbucks: “In response to inquiries from those who saw a craft services coffee cup in Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones, HBO states, ‘The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.'”
.........I still have questions about why craft services exists in Winterfell, but OKkKKkkkkk.
Original post, 5/6/19, 10:09 a.m.: There was a lot going on in last night's Game of Thrones episode, most of which has since been overshadowed by tweets surrounding its biggest mishap: a Starbucks cup in the middle of a crucial scene. Yes, while everyone is making a show of drinking as much wine as they possibly can, Dany is sipping on hers whilst in the presence of what looks to be a grande espresso drink.
While the show hasn't confirmed the mistake, enough fans have zeroed in on the coffee chilling in the middle of the drunken aftermath that comes with winning the greatest war that it really doesn't matter if it's an actual Starbucks cup or not. A little past 17 minutes in, while Tormund is raining praise upon dear Jon, you can see this:
Lest you think that's the best of all the tweets, let me assure you. There is more.
In fact, at the time of this post, #StarbucksCup was trending worldwide with tens of thousands of tweets on the subject. That'll surely be dwarfed by the now-more-pressing royal baby news, but if the GoT showrunners decide to make an announcement (like, has there been a Starbucks in Winterfell all allong??), that might change.
