Wendy's is reinventing one of its most iconic menu items for summer. Earlier this week, the chain debuted its Frosty Cookie Sundae after fans were DIY-ing the dessert themselves. According to the site, the new treat includes the original Frosty base—available in chocolate or vanilla—but is drizzled with Ghirardelli Chocolate sauce and brimming with chocolate chip cookie chunks.
Earlier this week, Ghirardelli announced the collaboration to social media, writing, "We've teamed up with @Wendys to bring you something delicious." Wendy's also shared the news, but went with a more subtle approach, posting "frosty," "cookie," and "sundae" in three separate tweets.
"Consider this a one-up on the classic, beloved Frosty," the company's official blog The Square Deal—written by Wendy's execs and employees—reads. "The Frosty Cookie Sundae is everything you crave: sweet, just decadent enough and something you can look forward to." The post also points to the fact that customers were creating their own version of the dessert prior to its debut.
Here's the evidence:
Naturally, fans are also reacting to the launch all over Twitter. "Thank you @Wendys for coming out with the frosty cookie sundae on my birthday!" one user wrote. "So apparently Wendy’s has a frosty with cookie in it and I need it," another added.
Need something salty to go with your sweet? Wendy's new Made to Crave menu includes three new chicken sandwiches: the Avocado BLT, S'Awesome Bacon Chicken, and Barbecue Chicken. "After seeing the customer response to our Made to Crave Hamburger lineup, we knew we had to continue the excitement and flavor creativity with chicken," executive vice president, chief concept and marketing officer, Kurt Kane said in a press release.
The Frosty Cookie Sundae has already made its way to menus nationwide and is available for $1.99.
