Move over, unicorns! It’s time for mermaids to shine. General Mills is apparently releasing Mermaid Cereal (yes, that’s the name).
The cereal is “naturally fruit-flavored sweetened corn puffs with other natural flavors,” according to the sales sample packaging. It consists of light orange stars and teal mermaid tails or fish. Just from a glance, it looks like the cereal is similar to the non-marshmallow part of Lucky Charms, although these are fruity.
Even if you’re not a fan of cereal, the box itself is reason enough to grab one. It features a mermaid with purple hair and a teal tail, and the word “mermaid” is silver and glittery.
Mermaid Cereal has been in the works for quite a while. General Mills filed to trademark the name last summer and was issued this February. A couple sales samples began popping up on Instagram recently, but there’s no indication of when they will hit shelves.
