With a list of meals that includes Country Fried Steak and Chicken n' Dumplins, it's almost a given that Southern Fried Chicken would be on Cracker Barrel menus. But amazingly, it took until Cracker Barrel's 50th anniversary this year for it to finally be added—and even the chain knows it was a long time coming.

"We knew Cracker Barrel had to get it just right," Cracker Barrel’s Vice President of Culinary Cammie Spillyards-Schaefer said in a press release announcing the new dish. The team spent years traveling the south, testing recipes, and coming up with juuust the right one to bring to their 600+ locations.

The final product is bone-in meat that's double-breaded by hand and cooked with three types of black pepper and several seasonings and spices. It's then fried until it's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It's available on Cracker Barrel menus as of April 25 and comes on a platter with half a chicken (a breast, thigh, wing, and leg), two country sides, and buttermilk biscuits or corn muffins, all for just $10.79. Come hungry, guys.

Important consideration: While you can order the Southern Fried Chicken for pick-up, if you order it in restaurant, it comes served with a cute bear-shaped bottle of honey to drizzle over your chicken.

During the summer, you and your fam will also be able to take advantage of Cracker Barrel's Southern Fried Chicken Picnic Box. It's basically everything you need for a delicious, no-prep southern meal: 12 pieces of the new Southern Fried Chicken, a choice of two country sides, and a bunch of buttermilk biscuits. All of that costs $33.99, but for an extra charge, you can throw in a half-gallon of sweet or unsweetened tea, lemonade or strawberry lemonade, and banana pudding or cookies. The Picnic Box will be available nationwide starting May 20!
