Summer's still a little ways away, but thanks to some big news from the Hallmark Channel, we already have a few reasons to get excited. Four, to be exact.
That's how many brand-new movies the network is rolling out as part of their "Countdown to Summer" television event. The first film in the lineup is set to debut on Saturday, May 4, with another premiering every Saturday for the rest of May.
Of course, "Countdown to Summer" is just the latest addition to the network's already-popular roster of seasonal countdown events, including "Countdown to Valentine's Day," "Spring Fever," and "Fall Harvest." In fact, the flagship event, "Countdown to Christmas," will be celebrating its tenth anniversary later this year.
But any excuse to binge-watch the Hallmark Channel is a good one—particularly when sun, sand, and summer love are involved. Here's what you can expect in the upcoming season:
A Paris Romance
Premieres: Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m. ET
Cast: Jen Lilley, Dan Jeannotte
What’s It About?: It's Romeo and Juliet, except...with wine. Isabella (Jen) sets off to represent her family during a prestigious wine competition in Paris, where she meets fellow competitor Jacques (Dan), who also happens to comes from a wine family. Love blossoms, then fades—but everything happens for a riesling, right?
Feels Like Home
Premieres: Saturday, May 11 at 8 p.m. ET
Cast: Jonna Walsh, Nathan Parsons
What’s It About?: As the host of a successful web series set in New England, Abby (Jonna) is required to act "authentically northeastern." When family matters bring her back to her native state of Texas and into the arms of an old flame (Nathan), she's forced to choose where to put down roots.
Sailing Into Love
Premieres: Saturday, May 18 at 8 p.m. ET
Cast: Leah Renee, Chris McNally
What's It About?: Claire (Leah) is happily preoccupied with summer plans: She's a biology teacher, a bridesmaid in three weddings, and a summer enrichment class counselor on Blue Island. But when a Navy man buys her students' boat and a former boyfriend (Chris) shows up with a determined real estate developer, she learns that even the best-laid plans can go awry.
Love in the Sun
Premieres: Saturday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET
Cast: Emeraude Toubia, Tom Maden, Shawn Christian
What's It About?: Dating app founder Alana (Emeraude) gets engaged to her beau (Tom), then travels to her Florida hometown to tell her father the big news. That's where she bumps into a long-lost love. Suddenly, all bets are off.
