Most everyone has a favorite local convenience store, but Wawa is so much more than that. That's, of course, especially true on days like today when they are giving away FREE coffees of any size. I repeat: Any. Size. Happy Wawa Day!
The convenience store chain was officially founded 55 years ago—a true cause for celebration—and in the last five years, The Wawa Foundation has donated over $66 million to support charitable causes in the realms of health and hunger. So what's a better way to honor the day's theme of "high-fives for fulfilling lives" than toasting with a free coffee? Not much!
If you're lucky enough to live or be vacationing near one of the 840 store locations across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, or Washington D.C. today's your day. After all, they expect to give away over two million cups today.
“Wawa Day gives us a wonderful opportunity to step back and thank the millions of customers we’ve served over the past 55 years, who have made us an integral part of the communities we serve,” Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens shared in a press release:
This year’s Wawa Day is particularly special because we are also celebrating that, in just over five years, Wawa and The Wawa Foundation have already surpassed our initial giving goal and continue to support more organizations and communities across our operating area.
As part of the celebration, The Wawa Foundation will be donating $1 million to three different partners: the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Check Out Hunger, and the Special Olympics. Additionally, 63 new Wawa locations will open this year across the six states and DC—so if free coffee doesn't get you hyped, maybe that will!
