It's the end of an era: Today, Kathie Lee Gifford said goodbye to her co-hosting duties on the Today show, but not before finding out just how many glasses of wine she and Hoda Kotb have had over the last 11 years.
On her final show, Kathie Lee and Hoda played a trivia game, guessing answers to questions about their eleven years of hosting the show's fourth hour together. John Cena made an appearance for the segment, acting as the host for the trivia game.
The first question John asks is, "Approximately how many glasses of wine have been served on this show in 11 years?" The three choices are 2,500; 5,300; and an insane 10,800. Kathie Lee buzzed in right away, and she was sure that they'd had over 10,000 glasses.
John acknowledged that though it "probably seems like 10,000" since the wine is sometimes served as a double, Kathie's guess was too high. Hoda chimed in then, correctly guessing that she and Kathie Lee had been served 5,300 glasses of wine.
"That's not a lot over 11 years," Kathie Lee added.
Yasssss, Kathie Lee. In 2013, Hoda told Today.com that drinking wine on the show was to "keep the mood festive and to keep it light and happy and uplifting!" It's worth noting, though, that the ladies aren't chugging the glasses each morning.
"If we drank anywhere near what people think we drink, we couldn't function at such an extraordinarily high professional level," Kathie Lee told Today.com.
