One tequila, two tequila, three tequila...more! Uncommon Goods—aka the online retailer that stocks gifts by "independent makers"—is selling a set of Himalayan Salt Tequila Glasses. And they're not just a cute, millennial pink way to booze. They have a unique function.
Forget salt rims. According to the site, the shooters come with their own flavorful finish. "Crafted from Himalayan salt, the festive glasses give your shot of tequila or mezcal a delicious, salty finish," the description reads. This. is. genius. The glassware, which is hand-carved in Pakistan and varies in color from white to rosy pink, is available in sets of four for $28.
"Now bars and restaurants can use our unique glasses which still naturally add the perfect touch of salt without overpowering the tequila," co-founder of The Spice Lab, Brett Cramer, told Specialty Food.
Unsurprisingly, they’re a hit. The shot glasses currently boast a nearly 5 star rating (4.6 if we’re being exact) and have nearly a thousand reviews. "They are PERFECT," one satisfied customer wrote. "Truly amazing product. Turned me into a somewhat tequila drinker." Another commented: "For the guy who has everything…except shot glasses made of salt."
Creator and owner of The Spice Lab, Brett Cramer, began making the Himalayan glasses in 2009 to gift his friends for the holidays, but their response—which was obviously positive—pushed him into business. He now offers 180 different kinds of salt from 30 different countries.
His collection on Uncommon Goods also includes a Himalayan Salt Mortar and Pestle, Flavors of America Salt Collection, Salts of the World Test Tube Set, and Spicy Sea Salt Collection.
