Dairy Queen is taking on a wildly popular southern food trend with their latest release: Chicken and Waffles. On Monday, the brand announced their plans for the limited-edition menu item to officially hit DQ and DQ Grill & Chill locations on April 1. Mark your calendars, people!
"We're thrilled to offer the best of both worlds with our delicious take on a classic," executive vice president of marketing Maria Hokanson said in a statement. "Fans love our chicken strip basket, and now they can really indulge with the addition of decadent Belgian Waffles."
This savory sweet combo is basically a match made in heaven and, as such, DQ wants to celebrate big. In honor of launch, the company is teaming up with Yelp to create the ultimate date night experience. Candlelit dinner over chicken and waffles? Now that's romance.
Ten select Dairy Queen locations will take reservations on Friday, on April 12, Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14. According to the press release, participating restaurants will be decked out with "vibrant décor, special place settings, fun interactive elements, and a designated DQ crew member to serve the table." All you have to do to reserve your spot? Hit up your local Dairy Queen's Yelp page.
Earlier this month, KFC relaunched their own Chicken and Waffle dish after customers begged for its return. And while you can order it basket-style like DQ, Kentucky Fried Chicken is also offering the fan favorite in sandwich form. Either way, we're ready to stuff our faces with southern comfort food.
