Remember a few weeks ago when a man was stuck in his car during a snow storm and managed to survive on just a few packets of Taco Bell hot sauce for FIVE days? Well, it looks like the chain's famous sauce has saved another life.
According to a statement on the Winter Haven Police Department's Facebook page, 77-year-old Emmanuel Akowuah and his wife were parked in the parking lot of a Taco Bell in Winter Haven, Florida, getting ready to leave when an awful accident occurred. Akowuah says he put the car in reverse and then back into drive, at which point the car went over the curb and crashed into the restaurant, stopping about ten feet inside.
Another customer had been in the exact spot of the crash but luckily had decided to get up for more hot sauce just prior to the car crashing through the building. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the building was significantly damaged (as one would expect).
Jamie Brown, a Winter Haven police spokesperson, told The State, "This was a serious crash: the airbags deployed and the building kind of caved in...The man who got up to get more hot sauce could have sustained a devastating injury, or even death."
I solemnly swear never to tease anyone about getting dozens of hot sauce packets from Taco Bell ever again. There's something about the sauce!
