Australian retailer Grey Lines has created a cheeseburger-scented candle and dubbed it "The Maccas Run" after McDonald's AU name. With hints of beef, bun, onion, pickle, ketchup, mustard, and cheese, the smell of the candle is anything but inauthentic.
The candle, which has a reported 30-hour burn time, is available for $22 USD. And while it's currently sold out, Grey Lines is set to restock in the coming weeks. So, if you want your entire house to smell like Big Macs, have patience, please.
Honestly, I'm not sure I get the appeal. Why would I want to tease myself with the promise of a nonexistent cheeseburger? Personal reservations aside, "The Maccas Run" is clearly killing it in sales. According to Metro, fans were flooding the comment section of the product. "When cheeseburgers are life," one person wrote: "If I can't eat them, might as well smell them." Another added: "Think how much money we could have saved at college if we had this."
If you're not into fast food, there's an entire line of other similarly inspired aromas. We're talking bacon, garlic bread, noodles, bubble gum, beer, and buttered popcorn. Each room could smell like a different course!
The Aussie brand isn't the first to explore food-inspired scents. In January, KFC released their own candle that not only smelled like gravy, but also was actually made with it. Of course, it caused some *slight* confusion on Twitter. Customers were unsure if the product was edible, so just for the record: This one is for sniffing only!
