My sincere apologies for the creepy photograph that led you here, but...Saturday Night Live did a pretty great job of making Kate McKinnon look nearly as creepy as Momo, the internet urban legend that fans were surprised to see make its way to SNL.
On this weekend's episode, hosted by Idris Elba, Kate played a f*cking spooky-looking chicken mascot in a commercial for Bok-Bok, a fictional fried chicken fast food restaurant.
"We'd like to take a minute to clear up some things you may have heard about our mascot, Bok Bok, who does bear a slight resemblance to the internet urban legend Momo," an announcer says in the commercial. "We promise, Bok Bok is not Momo in a chicken suit, and she's definitely not tempting kids with chicken so she can steal their souls."
With her bug eyes and, um, aggressive smile (?), the resemblance is as spot on as it could be when mixed with a chicken costume.
Momo, a character that spawned from a Japanese statue, was thought to be linked to a suicide challenge, though that has since been debunked by Vox. Even still, fans were surprised to see the character spoofed on SNL.
This guy pointed out the inevitable:
Other people just wanted the chicken. I mean, fair.
Watch the commercial in full above, just maybe not with your kids. 😳
