Update: February 26, 2020 4:39 p.m. Right on cue, Aldi is rolling out its St. Patrick's Day foods, and thankfully the chain's bringing back some favorite from last year. Yes, green cheese is coming back to shelves. Why mess with a good thing?
All the St. Patrick's Day cheeses will be available again this year. That means you can get your paws on the green-tinted Pesto Gouda and English Sage Derby, as well as the alcohol-infused Irish Cheddar with Beer and Irish Cheddar with Whiskey. There's also regular-old Aged Irish Cheddar if that's more your speed.
All of the cheeses will run you $3.99 each. Looking for something to pair them with? Well lucky for you, Aldi has thought of EVERYTHING and you can pick up a pack of O'Sheas Irish Stout for $5.89 as well.
All of this will be hitting stores on March 4, so start planning your Aldi runs now!
Original: February 20, 2019 4:00 p.m. Aldi continues to make cheese in honor of every single occasion possible and frankly, we could not love it more. The super cheap super chain that gifted us with heart-shaped wheels of cheese, advent calendars filled with the stuff, and punny cheese wedges is celebrating St. Patrick's Day the best way they know how—with 5 new Irish-themed cheeses.
The festive release includes some green options and some alcohol-infused ones. There's Pesto Gouda, English Sage Derby, Aged Irish Cheddar, Irish Cheddar with Beer, and Irish Cheddar with Whiskey. They basically covered every taste preference! If you're anything like me (i.e. dying to get your hands on them), then here you go: The line-up is hitting stores really, really soon. The St. Patty's-inspired Happy Farms collection will hit shelves February 27, which means we'll probably have 10 Aldi runs before the actual holiday.
While the Pesto Gouda and English Sage Derby are both a celebratory green, the Irish cheddars are imported straight from the homeland and have actual alcohol. So yes, you can get your buzz on from a cheese block, because dreams really do come true. Plus, each variety is also selling for only $3.99, so be sure to spring for some extra Guinness, too.
And because you can't celebrate properly without a full St. Patrick's day spread, pair your cheeses with some of our green-themed favorites. Avocado pickles and copycat Shamrock Shakes, anyone!?
