Wendy's really, really wants you to get some free bacon. After hosting an entire week of free Baconator cheeseburgers in January—that may or may not have been a competitive slight to McDonald's—the fast food chain is now giving out free Baconator Fries with the purchase of any regular menu item.
Between now and Sunday, the freebie is available through Wendy's mobile app on both Apple and Android devices, and the in-restaurant offer will reset daily...which means you have a lot of Baconator Fries in your immediate future.
The "natural-cut, skin-on, sea-salted fries" first made their menu debut in July 2015, Thrillist reports, as a follow-up to fan favorite, the OG Baconator Cheeseburger. According to the Wendy's website, they're topped with "warm, creamy cheese sauce, shredded cheddar, and crispy Applewood smoked bacon. People love them and are consequently freaking out all across social media.
"Baconator fries are my JAM," one user wrote, with another adding, "Can ya’ll deliver in Kitchener Ontario? because we’re in the middle of a winter storm and I really want those baconator fries. Help a sister out!" Another Twitter account even blasted McDonalds in their pro-Baconator post. "Baconator fries > McDonald's bacon fries. By a mile," @Smokey_Vols tweeted. Wendy's would be SO proud right now.
A number of other fast food joints have jumped on the bacon bandwagon as of late. Along with Wendy's and McDonalds, Dunkin', Hardees, Sonic, and Burger King have also introduced new bacon-centric menu items.
