All this time you've been drinking Starbucks, but have you had any idea how much Starbucks you've been drinking? OK, that was a strange way to ask, but it's my way of introducing you to the following: a comprehensive guide to all of Starbucks' drink sizes.

Firstly, it's important to know your options. And when it comes to Starbucks, you've got quite a few. The sizes available to you are Short, Tall, Grande, Venti Hot, Venti Cold, and Trenta.

Short

The Short option was one of the first two available at Starbucks, The Spruce Eats reports. It's technically the smallest drink size at the chain (other than shots of espresso), coming in at 8 ounces. It's available for hot drinks.

Tall

Tall was the other OG Starbucks size option. The difference between a Tall drink and a Short one is 4 ounces—Talls come in at 12 ounces. You can get both hot and iced drinks in this size.

Grande

Though the word "grande" means "large" in at least three languages, a Starbucks Grande essentially falls right in the middle. A Grande drink is 16 ounces, and, again, can accommodate a hot or iced drink.

Venti Hot

Yes, the sizes for your gigantic hot and cold drinks are slightly different. A hot drink in a Venti (which—fun fact—means "twenty" in Italian) is 20 ounces-worth of coffee.

Venti Cold

A Venti for a cold drink is slightly larger (presumably to accommodate the ice involved); it comes in at 24 ounces.

Trenta

Should you have thought you were maxed out at a Venti Cold, Starbucks introduced the Trenta in 2011. A Trenta (which—wait for it—means "thirty" in Italian) is not 30 ounces, as you might think. It's actually 31. Something to know before you go ahead and get your coffee hopes up: Trentas are for select iced drinks only.
