Wendy's is no stranger to the limited-edition menu add. In fact, it's like they're reveling in our pain. You can't let us fall in love with your latest cheeseburger creation, only to nix it a few months later. We're hangry and heartbroken. NOT COOL. Apparently the fast food mega-chain has been getting my complaint letters, because Wendy's is officially bringing back the S'Awesome Bacon Cheeseburger—and introducing two new items along with it.
On Monday, Wendy's introduced their Crave menu by announcing S'Awesome's permanent return. Yes, it's here to stay!!!! And TBH, it's never looked better. They do say distance makes the heart grow fonder.
The beef burger is decked with American cheese, three strips of Applewood smoked bacon, iceberg lettuce, sweet onions, pickles, and obviously a side of S'Awesome sauce. The cheeseburger trio will also include the Peppercorn Mushroom Melt—with mushrooms, crispy fried onions, Asiago cheese, and smoked aioli—and the Kansas City-inspired Barbecue Cheeseburger. The S'Awesome and Peppercorn are available for $5.29, while the BBQ pick is $4.79.
"There's a reason we named the new menu line, Made to Crave," Kurt Kane, Wendy's executive vice president, chief concept, and marketing officer said in a statement. "Because it's true. These hamburgers are so undeniably good that Made to Crave is being integrated as part of our everyday menu." He's not wrong. The burgers will all follow their fresh, non-frozen beef policy.
While we're not trying to further the McDonald's vs. Wendy's feud, the news does come rather soon after the fellow burger brand's own menu update. In January, Micky D's released their classic Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, and French Fries with a new bacon twist. And Wendy's does have a reputation for trolling their competitor. Let us not forget the great frozen meat Twitter beef of 2018. Okay, so maybe we are instigating....
Either way, the craving is REAL.
