Looks like McDonald's isn't the only spot for a pig out. One after another, a bacon craze is taking over every fast food chain, with new menu items and take-out deals. And while Micky D's is serving up a free side of bacon today between 4-5p.m. to celebrate its new Cheesy Bacon Fries, Wendy's is taking things a step further: They're offering customers free Baconator Cheeseburgers for an entire week. Bring it on.
Through Monday, February 4, DoorDash is giving customers a free Baconator Cheeseburger with any order of $10 or more. To score the fast food staple—which is made up of a half pound of beef, American cheese, six pieces of Applewood smoked bacon (yes, six!!!), ketchup, and mayo—and nab free delivery, you can use the code FREEBACONATOR at checkout.
Countless other chains have jumped in on the bacon bandwagon—Sonic, Dunkin', Hardee's, and Burger King are all offering new specials—but Wendy's deal seems like a straight slight at McDonald's, no? And this isn't the first time the two chains have been caught feuding. In March 2018, Wendy's launched a shade-filled Twitter attack trolling McDonald's for using frozen meat. "Happy #NationalFrozenFoodDay to you for all the frozen beef that's sticking around in your cheeseburgers," Wendy's tweeted. The thread continued with a series of sad-looking menu items. "We believe in using fresh, never frozen beef in every cheeseburger everyday," they added.
Looks like the beef is far from over.
