CBD drinks are expected to be everywhere this year. All signs point to a healthy ice cream-style takeover as companies aim to pad the sparkling water (and tea, and coffee, and who knows what else!) space with more CBD-infused options.
One of the newest to catch our eye is Sweet Reason, created by a Harvard Business School grad named Hilary McCain. McCain's product comes in the prettiest glass bottles. They're so pretty, in fact, they might remind you of a hipper, cleaner Pellegrino bottle. The drink comes in three flavors, all of which sound like they belong in a spa: grapefruit, cucumber and mint, and strawberry and lavender.
The drink is made with cannabidoil, aka CBD. Each can has seven grams of hemp-extracted CBD, which the company says is to "enough to contribute to a healthy, balanced lifestyle, but low enough that one can enjoy multiple Sweet Reasons every day."
To clarify, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it won't get you high, but it is said to have health benefits. Some of those include helping to clear your mind, reducing stress, and easing mild discomfort from strains like going too hard at the gym or carrying heavy groceries for too long.
"The hemp plant has been helping people deal with life’s little ebbs and flows for thousands of years," Sweet Reason's website reads. "We’re on a mission to help everyone reconnect with one of nature’s greatest gifts—to make it easier to slow things down, relax, and pursue a life well-lived."
Sweet Reason launched in December and is based in Toronto and New York. Right now, it's available in more than 150 natural health food stores and independent grocers in New York, but keep checking its website to learn where else you'll be able to find it.
