Of all the food debates to argue over, I think we can all agree on this one: The center of the cinnamon roll is undoubtedly the best part. It's got all the cinnamon flavor you want, plus the perfect frosting-to-dough ratio. Now, let me introduce to you Krispy Kreme's newest donut, which tastes just like this perfect part of a roll. Meet the Cinnamon Swirl donut, in all its spiraled beauty.
To make it, Krispy Kreme donut experts tossed a classic donut in cinnamon sugar and topped it with both cream cheese icing and a gooey cinnamon swirl. It's definitely heavy on the cinnamon, which I'm personally a fan of, but isn't as overly sweet as you might assume.
Brittany Dubin, Krispy Kreme's culinary manager, says the gooey cinnamon swirl and decadent cream cheese icing "accomplishes the unthinkable."
Dubin, the force behind most of Krispy Kreme's new flavors, says the only other recent cinnamon-y flavor was the Snickerdoodle donut from a few years back. She says this new donut is one of her all-time favorites, which is high praise from someone who gets to taste and create the donuts you know and love.
The brand-new donut was added to stores today, November 12, and will stay put through January 2019. Also in stores now: S'mores Hot Chocolate! 'Tis the season for all things hot and ready.
