Twitter has long been a platform used for sounding off on different topics—everything ranging from politics and policy to celebs and entertainment. In the last several years, brands have gotten in on the fun, too, branching out from simply promoting new products to becoming more conversational with followers.

Burger King, like some of its counterparts (Wendy's, IHOP), is particularly entertaining on Twitter. Yesterday, in one well-played tweet, Burger King UK roasted both McDonald's and Kanye West.

It all began with Kanye giving a shout out to McDonald's. "McDonald's is my favorite restaurant", he tweeted yesterday. Burger King clearly wasn't thrilled with Ye's declaration:

Burger King UK jumped in with even more shade, and shared Kanye's tweet with a short, but loaded phrase: "Explains a lot".

Well, something tells me Kanye, Kim, and the kiddos probably won't be ordering Whoppers anytime soon. There's nothing Twitter loves more than some good old-fashioned ~drama~, so as you can imagine, people are eating this up.

The tweet has over 4,000 comments, 192,000 retweets, and 730,000 likes. Burger King replied to its own tweet later in the day saying, "If we knew this was going to blow up we would have made a soundcloud...".

Thank you, Burger King(s), for stirring the international social media pot. Always a treat!
