UPDATE, 2/11/19: In addition to to Thins we already knew were coming, Dark Chocolate Reese's Thins are seemingly also on the way. @CandyHunting confirmed the news on Friday and the account also noted Walmart's site seems to indicate the new product is already in stores.
And wouldn't you know it, the Thins have officially been spotted on Hersheys.com, meaning they are, indeed, Officially Official. It looks like we'll soon be able to buy both kinds of Thins in all different quantities.
UPDATE, 11/2/18: Reese's confirmed the forthcoming mystical Reese's Thins on Thursday. With the below image (!) came the following statement:
The new Reese’s Thins are 40 percent thinner than your regular Reese’s. Never a replacement. Just another option. Oh and this option comes individually wrapped in a bag, perfect for you to hide Reese’s Thins around your house, your work, your car. You get the gist. Remember, there’s no wrong way. There’s just more ways.
Senior Director, Reese’s Brand Veronica Villasenor doubled down on the "you should have as many as you want!" message, saying "America, we’re excited to give you another way to enjoy that irresistible, delicious, salty, sweet combo that can only come from Reese’s.”
All this is to say, yeah. Reese's Thins. March 2019. Get amped.
ORIGINAL POST, 10/26/18: According to INSIDER, Hershey's plans to debut a new Reese's cup in the spring of 2019. The new candy will be called Reese's Thins, and it will be approximately 40 percent thinner than the original.
"[Reese's Thins] appeal to those consumers who want something sweet with more permissibility," Hershey North America president Michele G. Buck reportedly said on a call with the company's investors on Thursday.
They hope this new product, which will come in both milk and dark chocolate, will not only sell well, but will also help sell the original product.
On the same call, Hershey's reportedly announced plans to raise costs in the near future and again in 2019, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, all we have to do is mentally prepare for a world in which we have another fantastic peanut butter-filled product. OK? OK.
