Do you like cheese? Silly question. Better question: Do you ever wish your meals could be covered in a crispy blanket of it? Well, the wait is now over thanks to Taco Bell. The chain that's often tempting us with tacos made of Doritos has now added the cheesiest chalupa we've ever seen and we're taking this as inspiration for all of our home cooking.
Like the Chalupa you know and love, Taco Bell's new Toasted Cheddar version is filled with seasoned beef, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheddar cheese, and reduced-fat sour cream. Instead of stuffing it with extra meat or crazy spicy Carolina Reapers though, they've added a toasted layer of cheddar cheese to the fried chalupa shell and we've never dreamed of such simple innovation.
The new menu item is undergoing its testing through mid-November. Good things come to those who wait. If all goes well in testing, the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa will cost you $2.49 solo, or it'll also be available in a $5 Box along with two crunchy tacos and a medium drink. The Tex-Mex fast food giant tested a similar concept in a breakfast version earlier this year, and (with zero surprise) the crispy cheese was well received. We can only hope that the Taco Bell fairies grace us with this, and in return we'll hype it forever. But, if by some chance it doesn't land, you better believe we're adding this genius tip to any savory recipe we make in the near future.
