Yesterday, fans of McDonald's McRib were #blessed with wonderful news: the barbecue rib sandwich is back for a limited time. The fast-food favorite has been around since 1981 and comes back around about once a year, which makes its fans even more excited for it. People are (as expected) very pleased with the McRib's return:

Some people, though, are less enthused about the McRib.

A rib sandwich from a fast food places begs the question: what the heck is actually in a McRib?! According to McDonald's website, the sandwich is a Pork Patty "slathered in tangy barbecue sauce and topped with slivered onions and tart pickles, all on a hoagie style bun." Here's the full ingredient breakdown:

As you can see, the onions are pretty much the most wholesome ingredient in the McRib, which is 480 calories. 200 of those calories are from fat. If you're on the keto diet, you're likely not eating at McDonald's anyway, but you'll have to skip the McRib for sure. There's 45 grams of carbs and 890 mg of sodium. Salty!

The McRib isn't outrageous in comparison to other McDonald's items. A Big Mac, for example, is 540 calories, 250 from fat, and has 46 grams of carbs. A Double Cheeseburger has 440 calories, and a large fry has 510, according to McDonald's website.

For folks who are making a meal out of the McRib, though, the nutritional info gets a bit crazy. For a McRib, medium fry, and medium Diet Coke, you're looking at 810 calories (340 from fat) and 89 grams of carbs. As with many things, moderation is key when indulging in a McRib.

If you're looking for healthier fast food options, there are different restaurants that better cater to specific diets. For example, Taco Bell is the place to go if you're craving fast food, but trying to keep a low-carb diet.

So. There ya have it!
