Update, August 25, 2020 11:01 a.m.: If it seems like the pumpkin stuff gets rolled out earlier and earlier every year, well, that's probably because it does! It didn't even take until September this year to spot Costco's MASSIVE pumpkin pies in stores.

Yep, these almost-four-pound beauties have been seen in stores well before Labor Day this year and we're not mad about it. Honestly, 2020 has been total chaos, so what is to stop me from getting a massive, $6 pumpkin pie in August and eating it myself? Nothing, that's what.

As always, what is at your local Costco's bakery will vary, so don't worry if you don't see it on your next trip. There's still plenty of time for them to hit shelves before you need to worry about Thanksgiving dessert.

Update, September 8, 2019 at 9:10 a.m.: Still too hot to spend your day in the kitchen baking a homemade pie? No worries—Costco's nearly four-pound (!!) pumpkin pie has been spotted back in stores by Costco shoppers and food blog @costcobuys. Even better...it costs just $6! Check your local Costco's fresh food section to snag one for yourself.

ORIGINAL POST, October 24, 2018 at 5:10 p.m.: ALERT, ALERT, PUMPKIN PIE LOVERS: Costco is carrying a nearly FOUR-pound pumpkin pie. If you weren't excited for Thanksgiving before, I'll assume that just tipped your meter into the red zone. The 3.62 pound pie measures a foot in diameter and will feed your entire Thanksgiving crew—and then some.

Perhaps the biggest draw to this enormous Thanksgiving classic is the price. Per usual, Costco presents its loyal customers with a deal that's simply too sweet to pass up. The price seems to fluctuate among locations, but you can score this motherlode of a pie for between $6 and $8.

There are technically 12 servings per container, but I'm thinking you could easily feed more people than that with this thing. According to The Costco Connection, the pie dough is made in-house. At the Costco warehouse in Issaquah, WA, they make at least 10,000 pies—just in the five days leading up to Thanksgiving. As of 2016, Costco was also using the very same recipe it had since 1987—only the Dickinson variety of pumpkins for the puree. The bakeries, according to the 2016 Costco Connection article, "combine a pre-mixed bag of dry ingredients and select spices with whole eggs, canned pumpkin, and water." Also, there are no preservatives, which is why the big pie is always refrigerated.

Instagram users have begun posting photos of the beloved pie. (Seriously, it's beloved—there's an entire Facebook page dedicated to the dessert).

All that's missing is a perfect dollop of whipped cream. What are you waiting for? Join the masses and buy your Costco pumpkin pie!
