When your tagline is "We have the meats," you better have the damn meats. At any time, Arby's menu lists beef, pork, chicken, and turkey as options...all common meats—and more than most other fast food restaurants offer. But every once in a while, the chain likes to show off, throwing curveballs like elk and venison onto its menu. The latest addition? Duck.
On Saturday, October 20, 16 Arby's outposts will sell a limited-edition Seared Duck Breast Sandwich. The duck meat—all of which is coming from Maple Leaf Farms—will be cooked sous vide, topped with crispy onions and smoked cherry sauce, and served on a toasted specialty bun. Honestly, on paper, the whole thing sounds a lot more like something you'd wait in a two hour line for at a five-star restaurant than something Arby's is shilling—no shade intended.
The whole promotion is launching to mark hunting season, and the 16 Arby's locations getting the sandwich were chosen very purposefully. They're all in the four "waterfowl migration flyaways" across the country: Atlantic, Central, Mississippi and Pacific. And the restaurants specifically (all listed on Arby's site) were picked due to their close proximity to actual duck hunting locations. You've got to appreciate the amount of thought that went into this, if nothing else.
