Of all the details that go into a wedding, there are two things guests always remember: the food and the drinks. And at today's royal wedding, one very notable drink is sure to be at the bar: George Clooney's Casamigos Tequila.
The tequila is wildly popular—George and partner Rande Gerber (Cindy Crawford's husband) sold the company last year for a billion dollars—but there's a personal reason it's on the wedding menu.
When George and wife Amal attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding back in May, People reported that Amal and Meghan had been friends for awhile, presumably through their shared interests in humanitarian work. As it turns out, there's another family connection that ties the Royals to the Clooneys.
Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie's now-husband, is the UK Brand Ambassador for Casamigos. He started working with the company in 2015, and according to The Drinks Business, his current role involves "representing the brand throughout its top tier venues including hotel groups and private clubs and educating consumers on its story."
It makes sense, then, that the tequila would be served at his wedding. Especially since, as Jack told The Daily Mail, "I get to decide some things. I’m in charge of drinks and we’ll be serving Casamigos."
Sadly, George and Amal were not in attendance at today's wedding, so George likely won't be pouring tequila shots to guests this time around, as he reportedly did at Prince Harry's wedding. The Casamigos will be flowing nonetheless! We can only imagine the upgraded margaritas and palomas the bartenders will come up with.
