Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond and her family call Pawhuska, Oklahoma home. But her ranch was under threat from a tornado over the weekend—and she had to flee with her kids in tow, People reports. But her husband, Ladd, decided to chase the storm instead.

Oklahoma meteorologist Dan Skoff tweeted about the tornado Sunday, wondering if Drummond would be okay since the twister was heading “REALLY close to the ranch.”

“We are fine!” Drummond responded. “It was headed straight for our place, so I drove to my sister-in-law's house with the boys. (Gotta love that detailed radar; you can see everything down to the county road number.) My husband, meanwhile, drove straight into the storm to watch it. Ranchers…”

Skoff noted it was “good to hear” Drummond was okay, despite the “close call” from the storm.

It’s not the first time Drummond has dealt with a twister in tornado-prone Oklahoma; in 2008, she wrote a blog post about living in the state during the so-called “Year of the Tornado.” “The tornado tried to cause a little mischief, touching down in—but largely sparing—our small town,” she wrote then. “Even as I stared into the center of this forming tornado last night, I knew I’d rather be here than in the middle of a 6.8 earthquake in Los Angeles.”
