John Legend is one of two (very) familiar faces spearheading this year's Naked and Wholesome Wave's Drink Good, Do Good campaign.

For every Shopping Cart dance posted with #FillYourCartForGood, Naked will donate the monetary equivalent of a cart of produce to communities in need, making the cause especially important to John. "I knew [food insecurity] on a personal level and on a neighborhood level, but 30 million people deal with this issue every day," he explained at the campaign's launch event last week. "I think it’s great we’re able to raise awareness about it and actually do something about it."

John also walked us through what he eats at every meal without fail, what it's really like to be married to a best-selling cookbook author, and what he hopes he and Chrissy's love of food will mean to their objectively perfect children.

He's never without vegetables. Like, literally.

"I’m a big veggie fan," John said. "I have veggies with pretty much every meal, which makes this program even more exciting for me. I have eggs with a salad in the morning."

Yes. He has a breakfast salad every morning without fail.

John has "cholesterol issues" and was given doctor's orders to eat more greens. "So I just…started eating greens with every meal [laughs]. I’ll have a salad with my breakfast."

The rest of his eating schedule is a bit more straightforward.

For lunch, he's into a tuna niçoise salad-type deal. A normal dinner in the Teigen-Legend household consists of grilled fish (and veggies) or "the occasional red meat" (and veggies). Oh, and also? "I love broccoli. I'm, like, a huge broccoli fan."

No, really. He's a broccoli guy.

"I'm a broccoli guy."

Though he's pretty good at staying on track, John still goes home to Chrissy, who's often in cookbook mode.

"The cookbook is the hardest because…we eat a lot," he laughed. He also confirmed the existence of a Cookbook Five: "During the testing time especially. I put on 5 pounds the first book. I was home a little less for the second book, but I put on some weight for that too."

He's thrilled his kids will grow up around such a love of food and eating.

"Food is an expression of love, especially when you’re cooking for kids or you have an opportunity to take them for a good meal," he continued. "It’s a way of showing them you enjoy being with them, and that you want to have family time together. We love meals together as a family. We love making food for each other, and I think we appreciate the fact that we’re able to do that, but we also know there are a lot of people out there who don’t have access to the kind of food we have access to, and it’s so easy to take for granted. And so that’s why we’re trying to spread the love!"
