Remember when Chipotle introduced chorizo to its menu, and it was very exciting? And then they're like, never mind—we're over it, here's queso. Well, for fans of the chain's short-lived menu item, you have a chance to relive your Chipotle chorizo glory. For a limited time, Chipotle has brought chorizo back, and it's available in stores nationwide—RIGHT NOW!
According to a press release from Chipotle, the "deliciously seasoned, perfectly grilled spicy chicken and pork sausage" doesn't have any artificial preservatives, flavors, or colors. Per Chipotle, the chorizo is made with a blend of pork and white-meat chicken and seasoned with paprika, toasted cumin and chipotle peppers. Then, the meat is "seared on a hot grill" for a "perfect char."
Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Chipotle, says, "Chorizo had a big following in its heyday, and a lot of our customers were disappointed when it was taken off the menu. As part of our overall commitment to menu innovation and delivering the craveable food our customers love, we're spicing things up and bringing chorizo back to our menu."
Chipotle also notes that the "Responsibly Raised" pork and chicken used in the chorizo is "from animals that are raised in more humane ways, just like Chipotle's others meats."
You can order chorizo in burritos, tacos, burrito bowls, and salads at Chipotle, "while supplies last." A spokesperson for Chipotle says, "We hope to have chorizo available through the end of November, however, it will really be as long as supplies last—so chorizo fans should hurry in to get their fix!"
As people on Twitter are finding out the chorizo news, they're posting to share their excitement.
