Every morsel of news about Walt Disney World and Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is worth getting excited about, but this one involves BOOZE, so you know we couldn't resist a Friday freakout.
In a blog post on the Disney Parks Blog, the parks announced new details about Oga's Cantina, which will be coming to both WDW and Disneyland as part of the lands' openings in 2019. We had high hopes that a cantina inspired by the classic Mos Eisley would be part of the lands, and now it sounds even cooler than we could have imagined.
The blog reports that the cantina will be run by Oga Garra, who has a strict code of conduct to prevent the kind of scum and villainy that usually haunts these types of places. The standard menu will feature "exotic ingredients using 'otherworldly' methods, served in unique vessels." We have a feeling that means food similar to the super-cool dishes at Disney's Animal Kingdom World of Avatar.
But most importantly, a follow-up comment on the post confirms that Oga's Cantina is developing "a specialty cocktail (non-alcohol- and alcohol-based) menu that will include creatively themed custom cocktails, and proprietary beer and wine options."
There will also be a droid DJ (sadly, no Max Rebo Band) to keep things lively, but no guarantees there will be no questionable characters. But at least you can treat yourself to a boozy drink should a bounty hunter start any trouble.
