As of Wednesday morning, firefighters were still working to contain the Carr fire blazing through Northern California. While celebrity chefs like Guy Fieri and Jose Andres have kindly stepped in to help feed firefighters, a much less famous helper is gaining attention, too.
A video posted to Facebook by Chelsey Lutz Monday — and watched more than 270,000 times since then — shows Lutz's two-year-old daughter Gracie handing out foil-wrapped breakfast burritos to firefighters taking a break from the surely overwhelming job. The cause hit close to home, as two of Gracie's uncles and her grandfather are working firefighters in the area.
In the video's comments, people thanked Lutz and her daughter Gracie for helping take care of their family members also fighting the fire. One man wrote, "This is absolutely the best reward a firefighter can get," while another commented, "That's parenting done right ... we need more people like this."
The firefighters at work are facing an extremely tough job — so far, six people have lost their lives to the Carr fire. According to NPR, the fire is now 30 percent contained, though new fires have since started near the Mendocino National Forest.
