Guy Fieri is busy. One day he's exploring the Bahamas during Shark Week, and the next he's planning to open a restaurant in Disney World. Despite his schedule, the chef still makes time to help others. He recently assisted the Salvation Army in feeding victims and firefighters of the Carr Fire, in Redding, California.
Guy told CNN that his team (his son and family friends) loaded up their caravan from wine country and drove four hours to Redding to "work arm and arm" with the Salvation Army, chefs, and everyone else helping out the evacuees.
Guy, his team, volunteers, and a food-based nonprofit, Operation BBQ Relief, cooked in a makeshift kitchen in a parking lot, where they reportedly fed 1,400 evacuees and first responders, according to San Francisco Gate.
He told CNN that he was trying to "keep the menu interesting" for the people he was feeding. This isn't the first time Guy has contributed to wildfire relief. According to Eater, he and Operation BBQ Relief helped feed victims of the Sonoma County fires last fall.
I think we can all take a cue from Guy, and and offer assistance in our own communities where it's needed. If you'd like to contribute to the fire relief effort, visit the Salvation Army or Red Cross websites.
