Walt Disney World in Florida just opened Toy Story Land, a nostalgia trip of a park located inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Every single element of the park is either related to the three Toy Story movies or popular toys in general — and that includes the food, too.
Woody’s Lunch Box is the only restaurant inside the 11-acre section, and it features kid-friendly eats that will remind parents of their own childhoods, from grilled cheese to gourmet Pop-Tarts. And the design of the restaurant is a sly nod to a quick moment you probably forgot in Toy Story.
In the first Toy Story movie, Andy gets a lunch box as a birthday present. We don’t get to see the lunch box, but we see the toys’ reaction: They think it’s a total letdown.
But that reaction may have been premature. It’s that lunch box that becomes a central part of Toy Story Land, which is modeled after Andy’s backyard. It’s a vintage, Woody-themed lunch box, but it's not exactly used to carry Andy's school lunch.
Here’s where the backstory comes in, which you won’t see displayed in the park. In Andy’s imagination, he sets up the lunch box in his yard to throw a picnic for the green army men. But Andy leaves the lunch box unattended — and when he’s gone, it’s open to the public, who are deemed honorary toys.
“When Andy was ready to play in his backyard, he propped it open with one of his thermoses, and suddenly, he was called [back inside],” Jerry Mora, food and beverage guest experience manager at Walt Disney World, tells Delish. “So he left his backyard, and we have all the green army men, and the toys, and the guests ready to try the menu out.”
You can see the troops throughout Toy Story Land, on high alert for Andy sightings.
Woody’s Lunch Box serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, from when the park opens until it closes. But you may want to wait until the crowds die down – Insider reports that there are lines up to three hours long to even get into Toy Story Land.
