Avocados are having a serious moment — or rather, they've been having a serious moment for years. From the almighty avocado toast to burrito avocados, and even avocado butter, you can incorporate the yummy (and healthy!) fruit in just about anything these days. Case in point: Avocado ice cream is now available at Whole Foods. Cado Avocado Ice Cream says its avocado-based, dairy-free dessert is the first of its kind.
The sweet treat comes in three flavors: Deep Dark Chocolate, Simply Lemon, and Mint Chocolate Chip. Unlike many of its healthy ice cream counterparts, Cado's ingredient list is simple and includes organic avocado puree, non-organic avocado oil, and organic cane sugar. The Deep Dark Chocolate flavor has 12 grams of sugar — 15 grams fewer than a comparable pint of Ben & Jerry's chocolate.
Oh, and the family behind Cado assures, "don't worry, it doesn't taste like avocado!". Still not sold? These Instagrams from Cado customers may change your mind.
One user said Cado is "kid-approved." Another said, "If being this basic is wrong, I don't want to be right." If Cado's current flavors don't strike your fancy, keep an eye out for Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel Swirl, Cherry Amaretto, and Java Chip, all of which are coming soon.
