As a child, something you heard on the reg from your parents was to stop playing with your food, but that was no simple task. Food is colorful and FUN and sometimes it can be pretty darn tempting to not build little houses from your double stack of chocolate chip waffles. JELL-O, however, decided to break tradition and make their jiggly snack into a freaking TOY. As an adult this shouldn't make me as excited as I am, but, with no shame, I'm literally pre-ordering them all immediately.
The 121-year-old company launched the new line of molds and cookie cutters that can transform the classic sweet gelatin dessert into real life objects. JELL-O Play features molds to create LEGO-like blocks to build castles and everything in between, or cutters (similar to cookie cutters) for animal shapes.
The brand also rolled out packages for "edible mud" and "edible sand" with bug and beach design stickers, respectively. CAN I BE A KID?
"We're stimulating kids to unleash their creativity," said spokesman Sergio Eleuterio. "Eating becomes part of the play."
All the JELL-O Play Kits are meant for kiddies ages 4-12 (or older?) and priced under $5, too, so you can go ahead and stock up. They are currently available for pre-order at Amazon and select retailers, including Target and HEB. Scope retail stores throughout the summer, though, for a nationwide release.
